In celebration of the Buddha's birth, awakening, and passing away, Oklahoma Buddhist Vihara is offering a day retreat May 29th from 9am to 2pm.

10:45 - Buddha Puja
11 - Vegetarian Potluck Lunch*
12 - Walking Meditation
12:30 - Dhamma Talk

1:30 - Questions & Answers
1:45 - Blessing Chanting
2 - Ending

*You are welcome to bring your favorite vegetarian dish to share with the community.

Kathina & Opening Ceremony

Dear Noble Friends,

The Rains Retreat is ending on the Full Moon in September. The month of October will be the Kathina robes month. The Oklahoma Buddhist Vihara will hold a Kathina Ceremony on October 17th.

In conjunction with the Kathina Ceremony we would like to announce our Grand Opening of Oklahoma Buddhist Vihara to the community. The temple has established itself over the last year. We would like to unveil the developments we have made to the temple to our supporters.
Please, join us for this historic and very meritorious event!

This year we have twelve monks for the Kathina Ceremony. Provided is a list of items needed for the Kathina celebration. Please, add your name to any items you would like to contribute to the event. If you would like to sponsor a gift (pirikara) or traveling expenses for the monks contact the temple.

An items list is provided as a public Google Sheet. Please, sign up and help this ceremony be a success.

Retreat & Precepts Ceremony

We will host a meditation retreat at Oklahoma Buddhist Vihāra on Sunday, February 22nd from 9am to 3pm. This will be concluded with a Precept Ceremony for those that have been preparing to take the Five Precepts over the last few weeks.

Please, take this opportunity to develop your practice and answer the question, "What is the value in living a moral life?".

Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothes. 

There will be a $25 cover charge.
